OCBC Advocacy and Government Affairs

ADVOCACY AND GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
The Government Affairs Program is foundational to the Orange County Business Council's mission and goals. Whether hosting President George W. Bush, testifying before a Senate Committee in Sacramento, or working with elected officials in Washington, D.C., OCBC prides itself as being the preeminent pro-business association in Southern California.

The Business Council's advocacy efforts protect Orange County's unrivalled quality of life by achieving meaningful solutions that safeguard and advance the business community's interests. Understanding there are many issues facing businesses in California, OCBC's Government Affairs Program is built around three core advocacy initiatives: increasing workforce housing, improving and expanding workforce development, and improving the county’s infrastructure.

LEGISLATIVE ACTION GUIDE
OCBC addresses tough public policy issues that impact Orange County through its Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee. The committee's decisions and actions are guided by OCBC's 2009-10 Legislative Action Guide, which outlines the Business Council's public policy guidelines and includes invaluable advocacy tools, such as contact information for Orange County's legislative delegations in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
The driving force to the government affairs initiative is the Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee. This action committee provides public policy direction to OCBC's Board of Directors and oversees the Business Council's state and federal legislative platforms. For more information on how to get involved in the committee, please contact Kate Klimow, Vice President of Government Affairs.
