The Honorable Shirley Weber
Secretary of State
Shirley Nash Weber, Ph.D. was nominated to serve as California Secretary of State by Governor Gavin Newsom on December 22, 2020 and sworn into office on January 29, 2021. She is California’s first Black Secretary of State and only the fifth African American to serve as a state constitutional officer in California’s 170-year history.
 
 
 
 

The Honorable Fiona Ma
Treasurer
Fiona Ma is California’s 34th State Treasurer. She was elected on November 6, 2018 with more votes than any other candidate for treasurer in the state’s history. She is the first woman of color and the first woman Certified Public Accountant (CPA) elected to the position.

 

 

The Honorable Patrick O’Donnell
Assemblymember, 70th AD
Assemblymember O’Donnell brings over twenty years of classroom experience as a teacher to his role as Chair of the Assembly Education Committee. As Chair, Assemblymember O’Donnell has increased funding for schools, including creative arts and special education programs; expanded investments for preschools and K-12 school facilities; more slots for California residents at the UC and CSU systems; and led the charge to create safe learning environments for LGBTQ students.
 

 

Wade Crowfoot
Secretary, CA Natural Resources Agency
Secretary Crowfoot oversees an agency of 19,000 employees who protect and manage California’s natural resources. This includes the state’s forests and natural lands, rivers and waterways, coast and ocean, fish and wildlife, and energy development. As a member of the Governor’s cabinet, he advises the Governor on natural resources and environmental issues.

 

 

David S. Kim
Secretary, CA State Transportation Agency
David S. Kim became the third Secretary of the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) on July 1, 2019 following his appointment by Governor Newsom in April 2019. In this role, he is responsible for oversight of 40,000 employees across eight departments, boards and commissions whose mission is to advance a safe, environmentally sustainable transportation system that maximizes mobility for all Californians.

 

 

The Honorable Betty Yee
State Controller
As the state’s chief fiscal officer, Ms. Yee chairs the Franchise Tax Board and serves as a member of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) Boards. These two boards have a combined portfolio of more than $620 billion.

 

 

The Honorable Bob Hertzberg
State Senator, 18th SD, Senate Majority Leader
Hertzberg is the Senate Majority Leader and formerly served as the 64th Speaker of the California State Assembly.

 

 

 

The Honorable Scott Wiener
State Senator, 11th SD, Senate Housing Chair
Elected in 2016, Senator Wiener focuses extensively on housing, transportation, civil rights, criminal justice reform, clean energy, and alleviating poverty. He chairs the Senate Housing Committee and is Vice Chair of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus.

 

 

The Honorable Tom Umberg
State Senator, 34th SD, Senate Judiciary Chair
State Senator Tom Umberg is a retired U.S. Army Colonel, former federal criminal prosecutor, three term state legislator, small business owner and Deputy Drug Czar for President Clinton. He Chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee.

 

 

Hilary Norton
Chair, California Transportation Commission
Norton currently serves as Chair of the California Transportation Commission and brings over 28 years of experience in transportation and community development to her Commission role.

 

 

 

Kate Gordon
Director, Governor’s Office of Planning and Research
Kate Gordon has spent the past two decades working at the intersection of climate change, energy policy, and economic development.
