On May 23, City of Irvine leaders helped to open Belaira, a 144-unit apartment community for low-income families located on 6.45 acres within Great Park Neighborhoods.
Developed in collaboration with FivePoint and Riverside Charitable Corporation (RCC), Belaira is Related California’s third affordable family community and sixth affordable development within Great Park Neighborhoods.
Irvine Mayor Farrah Khan and Vice Mayor Larry Agran joined Related California CEO Bill Witte, FivePoint CEO Daniel Hedigan, RCC Deputy Executive Director Recinda Shafer and new residents to cut a ceremonial ribbon to mark the opening of the new community.
The development is made up of eight, three-story residential buildings and seven community buildings, including the main community center, leasing center, pool building, maintenance building, plus three laundry buildings. The exterior community amenities are located in the center of the site and include a swimming pool, tot lot, picnic and barbeque areas, dog run with dog wash station, and a large central green space.
Premium recreational amenities include a parlour with book-sharing library, communal kitchen, lounge and flex activity space designated for family gatherings and social service classes. 22 apartments are designated with mobility features, and 15 of those apartments are designed in compliance with communication features. Ten ground floor apartments will be adaptable and located on an accessible route.
Great Park Neighborhoods is a walkable and bikeable community that includes a vibrant mix of homes, commercial/office spaces, schools, resident parks and trails. With the addition of Belaira, 853 of the planned 1,056 affordable apartments for lower-income-qualifying families and seniors have been completed.
Belaira is also in close proximity to shopping, transportation and recreation centers, including the Great Park.
