Cox Charities awarded a total of $60,000 in grants to 11 Orange County and Palos Verdes nonprofits with programs focused on K-12 STEM education, digital equity, conservation, sustainability, military and Veterans. A philanthropic foundation funded by employee donations, Cox Charities has served California communities since 1999. 2024 Orange County nonprofit grant recipients are:
- Shea Therapeutic Riding Center for equine assisted services for Veterans and military families.
- Crystal Cove Conservancy for STEM education expansion.
- Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee, Inc. for welcome home bags for Marines.
- Bracken’s Kitchen for the community feeding program.
- Orange County Coastkeeper for the CleanUp OC program.
- Speech and Language Development Center for Digital Voices: Empowering Special Education Students through Digital Journalism and Broadcasting program.
- Unlimited Possibilities for Virtual Reality Therapy Immersive Experience (VR-TIE).
- Working Wardrobes for a New Start for rebuilding careers for Veterans.
- YMCA of Orange County for Mario Kart live racing.
Cox Charities’ giving programs are overseen by a diverse volunteer board of Cox employees who live and work in communities throughout Orange County and Palos Verdes. To date, Cox Charities has contributed more than $10 million to California communities in San Diego, Orange County, Palos Verdes, and Santa Barbara.
