Jena Jensen oversees advocacy and public policy for CHOC, as well as the development and stewardship of relationships with federal, state and local elected officials, government, community and opinion leaders. Ms. Jensen also oversees CHOC’s Belonging, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiative, which aims to promote and celebrate the value of difference throughout the enterprise and beyond.
One of the leading pediatric health care systems in the nation, CHOC’s Orange County, Calif.-based health care network includes: two state-of-the-art hospitals in Orange and Mission Viejo; primary and specialty care clinics in Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Corona and Garden Grove; an expanding network of outreach programs that brings CHOC’s services into every corner of Orange County; a residency program that trains tomorrow’s pediatricians; five centers of excellence – the Heart, Orthopaedic, Neuroscience, Hyundai Cancer and Innovation Institute(s); and a Research Institute that brings advanced treatment to patients. To expand mental health access for children and teens in the region, CHOC offers an 18-bed Mental Health Inpatient Center on its Orange campus as well as an Intensive Outpatient Program for teens with moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety, depression, or other mental health problems.
CHOC was once again named one of the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report in its 2021-22 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. CHOC ranked in seven specialties: neonatology; cancer; diabetes and endocrinology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology and lung surgery; and urology.
Ms. Jensen joined CHOC in 1992, having previously provided public relations/public affairs consulting services to the organization, along with a variety of other multi-sector clients. More than 30 years of her career have been devoted to health care delivery in Orange County.
Ms. Jensen is a native of California and an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley. She currently serves on the boards of the Orange County Business Council, Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, Orange County Forum and Santa Ana College Foundation; is a member of the Provider Advisory Committee for CalOptima Health, Orange County’s County Organized Health System, and serves as a member of Orange County’s Mental Health Services Act Steering Committee. Other professional affiliations include the Hospital Association of Southern California, California Hospital Association, California Children’s Hospital Association, and the national Children’s Hospital Association.
Ms. Jensen is a resident of Santa Ana, California and has three adult children. She is a proud military mom thanks to her son, a U.S. Army Captain and medical resident.
