
Executives from hospital systems & health care providers explore how health care drives economic growth, shapes Orange County’s future & supports a sustainable workforce
IRVINE, CA (May 7, 2025) — Executives from Orange County hospital systems and health care providers explored how health care drives economic growth, shapes Orange County’s future and supports a sustainable workforce at Orange County Business Council’s (OCBC) 2025 Health Care Forum, to an audience of nearly 200 local business leaders on May 6 in Huntington Beach.
Two moderated panels focused on timely topics such as advancements in treatment and patient care delivery, workforce development, preventative care, Orange County as a healthcare destination and contributions to innovation and science that are driving the future of the industry. The “Healthcare as an Economic Engine: Growth, Workforce and Sustainability” panel, pictured right, included moderator Darrin Godin, MHA, City of Hope Orange County Vice President of Marketing and Communication, and panelists Joan & Andy Fimiano Endowed Chair in Orthopedic Surgery and President of Hoag Specialty Clinic, James T. Caillouette, MD, FAAOS, for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian; MemorialCare Health System President David Kim, MD; CalOptima Health Chief Operating Officer Yunkyung Kim, MPH; and UCI Health Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Nate Shinagawa, MHA.
The “From Strategy to Impact: How Healthcare Will Shape OC’s Future” panel, pictured left, included moderator Jeffrey Ball, OCBC President and Chief Executive Officer, and panelists Providence, South Division Chief Strategy Officer Matt Bader; Rady Children’s Health Regional President of Orange County Kim Milstien; City of Hope Orange County Chief Operating Officer Annette Morgan, MBA; and Slalom Healthcare Global Lead Jacqueline Myers.

They also discussed the need for a supportive workplace ecosystem that fosters employee growth and retention, including on-the-job training and career development opportunities. Collaboration across sectors was noted as essential to building a strong, sustainable talent pipeline.
